In 2006 Nintendo released a lesser-known gem named Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team Red / Blue for the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS. Earlier this morning, during Nintendo’s Pokémon Direct, they announced that a remake of the almost 15-year-old game would be coming to the Nintendo Switch on March 6, 2020. Nintendo also announced that a demo is now available, and the progress made in the demo would carry over into the full game once released.
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon is a series developed by Spike Chunsoft and a spinoff to the main Pokémon series. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team is a roguelike in which you assume the role of a human who was turned into a Pokémon. The Pokémon player is transformed into one of the sixteen available Pokémon after taking a personality test to determine the Pokémon selection. After which the player chooses a companion Pokémon. This procedurally generated dungeon crawler features Pokémon from the first 3 generations.
The Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series saw many additions that were released on the DS, 3DS, and Nintendo Wii. This will be the first time the series will see the light on the Nintendo Switch.
